Here is a quick guide to each level (or day) in Plants vs. Zombies 2: Dark Ages in the game Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It’s about time game.  This zone or world takes back in time to the medieval era.  Sunflowers and Twin Sunflowers won’t be producing any sun on these stages.  We’re playing at night now, no sun for them.  Instead, we get mushrooms!!!

Sun-shroom: They give small suns at first, then normal suns, and finally large suns.
Puff-shroom: Weak and short ranged mushrroms, but they cost nothing to plant, just their cooldown.  They are very useful as front line plants and grave busters during the early stage of every battle.  They expire after a certain amount of time unless Plant Food is used.
Fume-shroom: Shoots fumes that damages all zombies up to 4 tiles in front of it.
Sun Bean: At the early stage of every battle, let the zombies eat this plant, then attack that zombie using your Puff-shrooms to get small Suns.
Magnet-shroom: Can pull metal objects off of zombies.

Day by Day Guide

Play the Plants vs Zombies 2: Far Future zone before starting this zone!

Dark Ages Day 1

Dark Ages – Night 3 – | Same as above | – Plant Food: Sun-shroom – use Grave Buster to get PFs from graves, then use it on your Sun-shroom for some early Suns. During the final wave, use PFs on Spikeweed or Peashooter (“with Cherry Bomb too”).

Dark Ages – Night 4 (Mini Game)

| Cabbage-pult | Cabbage-pult | – Plant Food: Hypno-shroom – to turn zombies to Gargantuars! – Grave Buster: Save and use them to farm PFs from graves. – Hypno Shroom: Save them to turn nearby zombies as your allies, use them wisely.

Dark Ages – Night 5

Plant Food: Save them for the final wave.  Use it on Fume-shrooms against tough zombies.
Spam Puff-shrooms, Grave Buster for graves and Cherry Bomb for tough zombies.
Note: Projectile attacks won’t hurt Jester Zombies, in fact, they’ll reflect those projectiles and hurt you.  To counter-act this, use Fume-shrooms.

Grave Buster to farm the first PF from the grave then use it on your Sun-shroom to summon the big guns, yup the Snapdragons and Tall-nuts! Check the reminders section above on how to effectively place the Snapdragons.  Use Cherry Bomb against tough zombies if you have extra sun to burn.

Dark Ages – Night 8 (Survive with Given Plants!)

Hypno-shroom: Use to turn tough zombies as your ally, place them in front of your Wall-Nuts.  Grave Buster and Sun Beans can be used for getting extra Sun power.

Dark Ages – Night 9 (Survive the Battle!)

The potions can make the zombies tougher and faster, and overall more annoying, so use your Puff-shrooms early on to kill one zombie at a time. Do the Sun Bean and Puff-shroom combo to get quick Suns to power the planting of your other plants.
Grave Buster for graves and Cherry Bomb for tough zombies at final wave. Renew wall-nuts as needed.

Dark Ages – Night 10 (Mini Game! – Gargantuar and World Key!)

Plant Food: Good news because you have lots of PFs to use here for your Wall-Nuts and for taking down those Gargantuars.
Quickly clear the Graves to provide space for your Wall-Nuts.  Keep renewing them as needed with Plant Food, but make sure that their armor is very low first.  It’s important to get the most out of each use.
Potato Mines: Time it well to help you take down tough zombies like Gargantuars.  Other than that, just spam plants to disrupt Gargantuar’s advancement.

Dark Ages – Night 11

Plant Food: Fume-shroom vs Wizard Zombies
Cherry Bomb vs Wizard Zombies. Wizard zombies will temporarily turn your plants to sheep, meaning they won’t be hurting any zombies.
Use grave Busters and Sun Beans to get more Sun power.  Like always, just quickly set up your Snapdragons and Walls, Wizard zombies might be a problem , so be sure to take them out with Bombs and Fume-Shroom plant food effects.

Dark Ages – Night 12 (Protect the Plants!)

Plant Food: Use it on Puff-shrooms, once they start to fade or blink. Use Grave Buster to get PFs from graves.

Dark Ages – Night 13 (Mini Game)

Plant Food: Fume-shroom vs Wizard Zombies or Jester Zombies.
Quickly use Grave Buster and other plants to destroy the graves.  The more graves that are up, the more zombies will be spawned at certain points throughout the level.  Note that there are only 5 Fume-shrooms, so if there are 2 of them on 1 lane, use your “Shovel” to remove the other one and place it on the lane that doesn’t have a Fume-shroom.  Use extra Pea-nuts over the damaged ones to restore their health.

Dark Ages – Night 14 (Produce at least 2,000 Sun!)

Plant Food: Use most of your PFs to your Sun Bean’s seed packet to instantly refresh it’s cool down. You need to feed Sun Beans to all zombies in-order to complete this stage.
You can manually launch one mower by tapping and holding on it, use this only to defeat the Gargantuar.  Use the Cherry Bomb against Wizard Zombies only, try not to kill other zombies, you need them for Sun Bean’s ability.  Spam Grave Buster, Sun Bean, and Puff-shrooms to get Sun power, note that the only way to increase the Sun counter is by collecting Suns from Sun Bean’s ability.

Dark Ages – Night 15 (Plan Your Defense!)

Follow the pic below for plant formation.
Plant Food: Use it only on your Melon-pult to defeat the Wizard Zombies.  They spawn after zombies rise from the grave.  1 PF should be enough, so use all remaining PFs at the final wave to defeat the Wizards.

Dark Ages – Night 16

Plant Food: Once the first green zombie appears, defeat it quickly then use the PF on your Sun-shroom to get more Sun power during the early game.
Getting Suns early game is tricky, but once you do, setup your Walls and Snapdragons to stop the tough zombies.  Use 2 puff-shrooms to kill zombies early game.  Use the Cherry Bomb vs Wizard Zombies, Zombie Kings, and to clear Graves for your plants (you can’t use Grave Buster here).

Dark Ages – Night 17 (Survive the Battle!)

Plant Food: Once the first PF grave appears, use your Grave Buster on it then use the PF on your Sun-shroom to get Suns early game. Use other PFs to refresh the cool-down of your Cherry Bomb’s seed packet.
Spam Puff-shrooms on open spaces to harass zombies and to stop those potions from popping out, quickly setup your Snapdragons to clear the graves for your Walls.
Cherry Bomb vs Wizard Zombies (except the ones near your Walls) and Zombie Kings.
Once you have completed the formation, slowly replace Sun-shrooms with Magnet-shrooms.

Dark Ages – Night 18 (Survive with Given Plants!)

Plant Food: Once the first green zombie appears, defeat it quickly by launching one mower (tap and hold), then use the PF on your Sun-shroom to get Suns early game. Use other PFs on Fume-shroom to defeat Wizard Zombies.  Quickly plant 5 Sun-shrooms early on and spam Iceberg Lettuce to halt advancing/attacking zombies.  Quickly setup your Kernel-pults to defeat the first few zombies.  Use Pea-nuts over damaged ones to restore their health.  Once you have completed the formation, slowly replace Sun-shrooms with Kernel-pults.

Dark Ages – Night 19 (Survive and Protect the Plants!)

Follow the pic below for plant formation.
Plant Food: Use 1st PF to your Sun-shroom, then Fume-shroom against Wizard zombies, Zombie Kings (optional), or Gargantuar (or just use mower instead).
Use the Grave Buster to help get Sun Power, and the Cherry Bomb against Wizard zombies or groups of tough zombies.  Quickly setup some of your Snapdragons and Walls to protect the plants.

Dark Ages – Night 20 (Mini Game – Dr. Zomboss)

There is not much strategy here.  Give each row 1 Pea-Nut and just basically spam plants everywhere.  Easy Peasy.  If you fail, just try again.  You probably had bad plants spawning for you.

Plant Food: Fume-shroom vs Dr. Zomboss, Gargantuars, or Wizard zombies.  To damage Dr. Zomboss, place a Magnet-shroom between him and your Fume-shroom (time it well), then quickly use PF on your Fume-shroom to unleash a full attack. This is best used if there are metal objects around because Magnet-shroom will pull them in and launch them at Dr. Zomboss for a lot of damage!
